Curricular Clubs

Welcome to the UIL Academics information page! "The University Interscholastic League offers the most comprehensive program of academic competition in the nation. UIL Academics offers more activities than any other UIL division, with 30 contests at the high school level and 20 A+ Academic contests for grades 2-8. More than half a million students participate in UIL academic contests each year. These activities, which exist to complement the academic curriculum, are designed to motivate students as they acquire higher levels of knowledge, to challenge students to confront issues of importance, and to provide students with the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of specific skills. Students are challenged to think critically and creatively, exhibiting much more than knowledge and comprehension."

At Voss MS, we have a successful UIL Academics program, sending teams and/or individuals to the Regional meet every year.

Events include the following, listed by official academic subject (with coach):

  • Math: Calculator Applications, Math, Number Sense

KVMS News is Voss Middle School’s student-produced daily news program, created to keep our Eagles informed, connected, and engaged with what’s happening on campus. Students on the broadcast team are expected to arrive on time daily, actively participate in their assigned role including assisting in script updates, setting up for the broadcast, and helping shut the studio down at the end of broadcast. 7th and 8th grade students interested in joining KVMS can apply in April each year. Auditions are then held during the first week in May. Students must have teacher recommendations and be in good standing with regard to grades, discipline, and attendance. For more information, please contact Mrs. Brinson.
