Academic UIL
Participation teaches that it is a privilege and an honor to represent one's school. Students learn to win and to lose; to take as well as to give. Self-motivation and intellectual curiosity are essential to the best academic participants. Physical training and good health habits are essential to the best athletes. Interscholastic competition is a fine way to encourage youngsters to enrich their education and expand their horizons. Leadership and citizenship experiences through interschool activities help prepare students for a more useful and wholesome life.

Eaglettes Dance Team
The Voss Eaglettes Dance Team is a spirit team at Capt. Mark T. Voss Middle School, which consists of 7th and 8th grade students. The Eaglettes cheer and perform at Voss athletic events in the Fall and compete in dance competitions in the Spring. Our team also marches in the CHS and BHS homecoming parade and performs alongside the CHS Charms and BHS Starlettes in their homecoming week performances. The Eaglettes also perform in Spring Show at CHS and BHS following our Spring dance competition to close out our season.
Tryouts for the Eaglettes Dance Team are held each year in the Spring following the conclusion of our current team's season. A parent meeting will be held to provide information about the team, costs, as well as judging criteria. We will hold a dance camp after school to learn the tryout routine. Following the dance camp, we will hold tryouts, and those who made the team will be announced. Once on the team, members will be required to attend a uniform fitting and pay team fees for uniforms, practice attire, and summer camp fees. Prior to school starting, a dance camp will be held in order to learn each year's routines and cheers.

E-Sports
About the Program:
VMS is excited to offer an Esports club to all students and a competition team to 7th and 8th grade students who are at least 13 years of age. Currently, students who qualify for the Esports club will have the opportunity to play Esports games at school during designated times. At this time, Esports is a new and evolving program in our district, and may be subject to changes in order to best serve our students. The program will follow UIL guidelines for grades, absences, etc. As the program evolves, we hope to add in-district competitions and expand our gaming options.
Mission Statement:
The VMS Esports program will provide opportunities for students to use Esports as a platform to acquire critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills needed to thrive in work and in life. The VMS Esports program will ensure that students possess the knowledge and skills needed to be society’s game changers: educated, productive, and empathetic individuals.
Purpose:
The purpose of the Esports Program is to give members the opportunity to:
-
Set themselves apart as leaders, and maintain a positive attitude and sportsmanship when faced with challenges.
-
Perform in team activities as designated by the program.
-
Encourage school spirit and community involvement.
-
Work as a team to achieve common goals.
